NACHI 6492 2AGEM is the medium-flute option in the AG 2-flute family. Its flute length sits between the standard 6490 2AGE and the long-shank 6494 2AGEL - deeper slots than the standard without giving up the rigidity a long shank costs. It is made from cobalt high speed steel (HSS-CO) with an AG (TiAlN-type) coating that resists heat and oxidation and allows dry or MQL cutting. Sizes cover diameter 1~20mm, flute length 3~45mm, overall length 50~110mm, shank diameter 6~20mm, 2 flutes, 29 in total, made in Japan. Only flute and overall length differ from 6490 2AGE; diameter tops out at 20mm versus 50mm for the standard. It suits carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel with workpiece hardness up to HRC35. Typical uses: medium-depth slotting where the standard length falls short but a long shank is not yet needed. How much more flute than the standard? Flute length 3~45mm with overall length 50~110mm, diameter capped at 20mm; for more depth move to 6494 2AGEL.
