Product Description
The WJ HSS Counterbore 180° SKD machines flat-bottomed counterbores; the 180° refers to an almost completely flat end face, producing a flat seat for socket head cap screws and similar flat-seated fasteners. Angle is what separates it within the category: the SKD90 cuts a conical countersink for flat-head (countersunk) screws, and because the two suit entirely different screw heads they are not interchangeable. If you only need to deburr or chamfer a hole mouth, the NCSD spotting drill in this catalogue carries a chamfering use and suits that step better. Substrate HSS, uncoated, rated to HRC30. Sizes cover screw sizes M3~M12 plus imperial 1/4"~1/2", body diameter 6.5~20mm, flute length 35~68mm, overall length 65~115mm and shank 6.5~12mm, in 11 variants. Made in Taiwan. How do you choose between 180° and 90°? By the screw head: socket head cap and flat-seated bolts take the 180° flat bottom, countersunk heads take the 90°. Do you drill first? Yes - a counterbore is a second operation, opening up a hole that an ordinary drill has already made. Can it cut stainless? Not recommended; listed materials are carbon and alloy steel plus aluminium and copper. Typical applications: counterbore seats for socket head cap screws, flat-bottomed recesses in machine parts, and recessing screws in moulds and jigs.
