ANEWJN-PT-SFT-PSHSS N-Type Spiral Pipe Tap Parallel N-PT-SFTSold0pcsThe WJ HSS N-Type Spiral Pipe Tap Parallel N-PT-SFT is the spiral-fluted version of the N-type pipe tap: the flutes carry chips back out, and since pipe threads are often blind or partly blind, chip evacuation decides whether the tap survives. Flute form is the difference from the straight-fluted N-PT: straight grooves leave chips sitting in the flute, while spiral flutes actively pull them back. Pipe threads are deep and generate a lot of chip, so the benefit is greater than in an ordinary threaded hole. Substrate is the same uncoated HSS rated to HRC30; for through holes or lowest cost go back to the N-type pipe tap N-PT; for larger pipe sizes choose the T-type pipe tap T-PT. Substrate HSS, uncoated, rated to HRC30. It cuts parallel pipe threads - PS/Rp, PF/G and NPS - in sizes covering nominal size 1/8"~1", 18 variants. Made in Taiwan. What is the difference between tapered and parallel pipe threads? Tapered threads (PT/Rc, NPT) seal on the thread flanks themselves and are common in hydraulic and pneumatic lines; parallel threads (PS/Rp, PF/G, NPS) keep a constant diameter and seal with a washer or O-ring. Are they interchangeable? No - the form and the sealing method both differ, and the wrong choice leaks. Typical applications: pipe threads in blind and partly blind holes, valve and pump body threads, and pipe tapping that generates heavy chip.
