The HT-SKS-CTV is a straight flute tap made of alloy tool steel (SKS) — straight flutes suit both hand and machine tapping. It comes in 4 sizes (thread dia 5~8, TPI 24~36). Supplied uncoated (bright finish). It handles carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals such as aluminium and copper, with workpiece hardness up to HRC30. Typical applications: tapping and re-tapping tire valve (CTV) threads in car and motorcycle valve stems and valve parts. In the same H.T.D family: the metric hand tap HT-SKS-M and the Whitworth HT-SKS-W; HT-SKS-CTV is dedicated to tire valve threads, thread dia 5 and 8, 4 sizes in all. Which TPI at dia 5? Two: 24 and 36; dia 8 comes in 30 and 32. Choose by the valve specification.
