AYDWJCDHSS Center Drill 60° CDSold0pcsThe WJ HSS Center Drill 60° CD is the standard tool for lathe centre holes, and is also widely used as a spotting drill to prevent the following drill from walking. 60° is the common included angle for lathe centres. Two forms share this product and are distinguished in the size text: the standard type (overall length 35~78mm) and the long shank type (overall length 100mm), the latter for taller workpieces or greater reach. A TiN-coated version of this product is also offered for longer life. If the purpose is not a lathe centre but purely spotting and edge chamfering, the cobalt NC spotting drill NCSD (HSS-CO, HRC40, diameter 3~25mm) has a more specific geometry and a much wider diameter band. Substrate HSS, offered uncoated or TiN-coated, rated to HRC30. Sizes cover diameter 1~5mm, overall length 35~100mm and shank 4~12mm, in 20 variants. Made in Taiwan. When should you use it? Before bringing up a tailstock centre on a lathe, or before drilling when the hole position must be exact. What angle is it? 60°. Can it cut stainless? Not recommended; listed materials are carbon and alloy steel plus aluminium and copper - use the cobalt NCSD for stainless. Typical applications: lathe centre-hole machining, spotting before drilling, and pilot work ahead of long or small-diameter drills. The same family also includes the cobalt NC spotting drill NCSD (diameter 3~25mm, overall length 50~150mm, rated to HRC40). For spotting on CNC machines, chamfering hole mouths or spotting on stainless steel, switch to the NCSD; keep the CD for lathe centre holes and small sizes of diameter 1~5mm.
